and work performance, and is the most common reason for medical consultations.One can classify back pain in many ways depending up on duration and origin.

Back pain is a leading cause of disability in USA rendering 1.1 million people disabled .Back pain affects 80% of the population at some time, in some form or the other during the course of their life and is one of the most frequent reasons both for consulting a primary care physician and for being absent from work. In India the study concludes that the Low Back Pain is the major Work Related musculoskeletal Disorder among the IT Professionals studied. In another study the profession of driving was found to be associated with low back pain.

If we consider duration low back pain classified as acute low pain back, subacute low back pain and chronic low back pain. depending upon origin low back pain can be classified as mechanical low back pain and neurological low back pain. in this article we will focus on mechanical low back pain
Causes : The low back pain could be due to various reasons such as trauma, bad posture, abrupt or unwarranted movements, overloading, tumor, osteoporosis etc. The risk factors associated with the development of this pain are heavy manual labor, repetitive lifting, and twisting, postural stress,monotonous work, poor physical fitness, poor inadequate trunk strength, and other psychosomatic factors.
